On this hike, you'll follow the old railroad line that linked Saint-Geniès to Salignac on this stretch, part of which has become a beaver path. By the ponds, you can still see the gatekeeper's house, a profession that has now disappeared.
From the signpost at the parking lot at the bottom of the village (near the stream and communal wash-house), turn left onto the Route de Salignac. Cross the small bridge, then turn right in the direction of "Stade" and "Canteloube". 400 m further on, at the fork in the road, turn right. Go for about 250 m, then leave the road at a bend and go uphill on an undisturbed path through the woods.
